Baby J FTP 2 – Fight The Power LP
Whilst Baby J has only been known by most until recently, “FTP 2 – Fight The Power” is in fact his third album. Not to mention his recent mixtape and collaboration album with Blade. Baby J has carved his name as not only a dope producer, but now it would appear, as a fairly prolific one.
FTP2 is a beautifully varied album, with an array of not only different emcees, but also mad different production vibes. Whilst you’d think this would lead to an album which doesn’t have a valid signature of the producer throughout, this isn’t the case. From the dark and depressing feeling of “Deal With It” to the crazy funk of “You Think Your Cool” or even the piano barebones of “School Days”, J adapts his skills to each sound, making it his own. The presence of emcees like Fallacy, Dynamite MC and Yogi may not be as ‘big time’ has the first FTP album, but nearly all the featured acts hold there corner as they should.
Don’t see this as merely a compilation of emcees to make a producer look popular; FTP2 is an album within its own right with no mixtape feel. After so many killer beats on so many different projects, it’s about time people started to admit, that Baby J is one of the best producers in the UK at the moment.

Baby J- FTP 2; Fight The Power
September 3rd, 2006
Derby's Baby J certainly keeps busy. It wasn't long ago that he had just produced Blade's entire 'Guerilla Tactics' album. Then came the solo album 'FTP' followed by a heavy mix CD of the same name that featured over sixty different guest rappers. He's back yet again with another album in the FTP series, this time featuring the likes of Dynamite MC, Fallacy, Rukus, Yogi and many more. The production style is as we've come to expect from J, who tends to create quite soulful tracks which often implement pitched up soul samples. He's great at what he does, although some development in sound wouldn't go amiss, and whilst most of the tracks are enjoyable, it'd be interesting for him to work a little left of the middle of the road. There's only so many collaborations with regular guests Yogi and Rukus that will demand people's attention. That said, it's a high quality effort which will surely satisfy the seasoned UK hiphop audience. |

BABY J
‘F.T.P pt 2’
(All City Records)
The UK’s finest producer has returned with a sequel to last year’s magnificent ‘F.T.P’. Baby J proved that he was the UK’s best producer and now he has definitely reassured me that he is. Featuring the likes of Poisonous Poets, T.B, Dynamite MC, Shade One, Fallacy, Big P & Skeme, Mr Ti2bs and MD7 it would be very hot for it not to be a classic. Favourite tracks defiantly include the magnificent ‘Must Get Free’ by poisonous poets, the title track ‘Fight The Power’ by Shade One, the radio friendly ‘Down Here Its Raining’ by fallacy and the street soother ‘Forever’ by T.B. again Baby J fails to impress!!!! Sick.
